SPOTS

Lesions or spots on the skin are extremely common and affect the majority of the population in one way or another. For example, some people wake up one morning and notice a skin coloured lesion in their underarm that wasn’t there before. Or maybe a sun spot has worsened after a long summer in the sun. It is also very common for men and women to feel embarrassed by a lesion in an intimate location.

For most types of lesions or spots, the Ministry (OHIP) considers these types of procedures to be elective, so there is often a cost associated with their removal. Every lesion is different in terms of size, shape, depth, colour and location and will require a different method of removal, which helps to dictate the associated cost. During consultation, the Dermatologist is able to thoroughly examine your concerns, and our medical staff will provide detailed information and pricing for the procedure. You are then able to make an informed decision as to whether or not you would like to move forward with the procedure.

With kind, reassuring and professional physicians and medical staff, all of these concerns are addressed with care and understanding. Our job is to give our patients the information they require in a physically and emotionally comfortable environment so they’re empowered to ask questions and make the decision that’s right for them.

Some of the most common spots are seborrheic keratosis, skin tags and cysts to name a few.

Seborrheic keratoses usually appear as a black, brown, or light tan growth on areas including the face, chest, shoulders or back. The growth has a waxy, scaly and mildly elevated appearance.

Skin tags are one of the most common lesions on the skin. They may look like a mole, but they are often flesh coloured and are caused by the repeated rubbing of skin, so commonly appear in the underarms, private regions, chest and neck.

Cysts are typically slow growing and painless and often appear as a hard lump under the skin. They can however become painful, may rupture or can even become infected.

If you’re bothered by a spot on your skin, our team of medical physicians specialize in evaluating the lesion, understanding your individual concerns, and working with you to recommend a treatment approach that will yield the best aesthetic outcome. We are here to answer any and all of your questions at every stage in the process, whether it pertains to the experience, the cost, the procedure or our expertise.
